GE is also looking at new opportunities in India. For instance, the emergence of low-cost airlines has created opportunities in areas such as the manufacturing of aircraft engines, maintenance services, and leasing or pure financing. The related airport-upgradation-and-construction boom presents opportunities in infrastructure, lighting and security. Similar opportunities exist in the passenger car market. The company's lighting arm believes it can sell headlight components to car or component-makers. Its plastics business also has similar plans. GE's commercial finance arm will finance the supply chain and the retail finance arm, the eventual purchase of a car by a customer.
